It’s National Garfield the Cat Day! It’s a day to celebrate America’s quirkiest and cuddliest cartoon character, Garfield. Jim Davis created the comic strip in 1978, and since then Garfield has been entertaining people with his laziness, obsession with food (especially lasagna), and hatred of Mondays. The story is set in Muncie, Indiana where we follow Jon Arbuckle (Garfield’s owner) and Odie the dog as they try to take care of their new feline friend.
National Pet Appreciation Week is a campaign created by the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1981. The goal of this week-long event is to celebrate and show appreciation for pets.
World Pet Memorial Day is observed every year on the second Tuesday in June every year. In 2021, this is June 8th. It’s a time where you can celebrate your pets that are waiting for you and other family members over rainbow bridge. It is so hard to say goodbye, but I know they will be waiting for me when it is time to cross. This day reminds us of how important our pets are in our lives and why we should cherish them every day.
